XSENSE has succeeded in developing software to support the domestic and international markets. It has also succeeded in developing a Smart City prototype to support tourism. Thitima Suwannarat, managing director of Xsense Information Service, a local research and software development company, said recently that the firm has developed the Vessel Monitoring System, a tracking system for fishing vessels. The system helps to prevent damage to freight on board. It utilizes the global positioning system for route tracking and monitoring, cross-border tracking and emergency calling. VMS, which is bundled with an automatic identification system, is installed in international transportation boats. It can manage boats and transportation. The firm started by installing VMS in 25 floating boats. It is now installed in over 1,000 boats. The firm is also working with the Andaman Tourism Association to set up a prototype of the Smart City project, which can check the status and position of vehicles and can access video in real-time. The project can communicate and connect with various departments such as smart security, smart care, smart office, smart energy and smart tourism. Smart tourism users or tourists who download the application can access tour destinations, shopping areas, hotel reservations and restaurants. The system can inform an urgent and emergency situation via the SOS function. The information will be sent real-time to Tourist Police and emergency counters at hospitals. Smart tourism will able to create confidence in tourists and promote tourism in the country. The system will able to provide information to tourists from the airport and check the status of tourists from the airport to their favorite destination. The system will also input information of tourists into the application automatically. Their information will be sent to the Tourism Department and other departments so that tourists will be convinced to visit their destination. The system will support tourism both by lane and water travel. It can check the status of tourists to ensure their security and confidence to enjoy their trip. The firm has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with CAT Telecom to set up a data centre to provide fishing information to fishing boats with secure data to the Fisheries Department. The MOU will be able to solve the cross-border and human-trafficking problem. The firm’s first- quarter revenue grew 22 per cent from the same quarter last year. It expects to steer revenue up 30 per cent this year. The firm has 10 branches nationwide in such as provinces as Phuket, Chonburi and Lampang, but also provides tracking systems to countries such as Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia. It plans to expand to Myanmar next year. The firm is now providing software development in Thai and English. Indonesian and Cambodian languages will be available this year.
“Indonesia is a high potential growth market for us since the country has a big population.
“Transportation in the country also has high potential for growth to transport goods and products among the islands,” she said.
